We all dislike to think that we have insects feeding and living off us. Mosquitoes are awful enough, but fleas, ticks and lice are even worse. They do not just come over for lunch, they actually move in. Dogs and cats are usually responsible for bringing fleas into our homes, but ticks and lice we can bring ourselves too.

If you suspect an infestation or an immanent infestation of fleas or other bugs in your home, you ought to do something about it right away. The first thing to do is tie the dog up in the garden and clean up the house. Place your bedding and any loose covers, like cushion or chair covers, on a boil wash. Then get out the vacuum cleaner, put a large shake of flea powder into the bag and vacuum the whole house – even the chairs and the curtains.

Then take a large can of insecticide containing 0.5% permethrin and spray every fabric that you can see. This will kill all bugs and will keep your house bug free for about six months. Think twice if you have fish or cats as permethrin will kill them too, although it is completely safe for humans and dogs.

So, now you can turn your attention to Fido. Fleas are by far the most common problem, but some areas where there are deer, may have a lot of ticks as well. If you dog has ticks, make sure that you cut your grass short. Ticks prefer long grass.

Fleas and ticks frequently produce an allergic reaction in dogs which drives them mad. They bite and scratch themselves until their fur falls out and their skin bleeds.

If you dog has a condition like this, you should wash him with a medicated shampoo, dust him with flea powder, put a flea collar on him and put a little oil on his sore skin. If he still will not leave it alone, you may have to get him a ruff for a few days until his skin heals over. For maintenance, a regular bath and a dusting should be sufficient.

Worms are another horrible thought. Imagine having worms living inside you. I know that we do all have parasites within us, but they are supposed to be there. I am talking about the ones that are not supposed to be in there like: tape worms, round worms, hook worms and whip worms. A bad hook infection can even make your dog anaemic.

Hook worm larvae can enter through the skin, so when you are washing or brushing him, be on the look out for what looks like small cuts. Often the dogs stools will be runny and tinged with blood. These are dangerous pests and need to be treated immediately.

The other worms are less hazardous and all puppies have round worms. Round worms and bits of dead tape worm in the stools are a sign of infection. A pot belly in a puppy is also a call to action. Worms are not difficult to treat and you should worm your dog every six months with a tablet. Not all of these worming tablets are appropriate for puppies though.

It is very difficult to keep cats out of your garden, but do not give up, it can be managed. Cat owners may not understand why gardeners want to prevent cats gaining access to their gardens, but there are justifiable reasons, it is not always that gardeners hate cats. Cats are ferocious hunters and can also be very destructive.

For instance, my next door neighbour had a cat, but became lonely when her daughter moved away, so she permitted the cat to to have young. Now she has six cats. But cats are not like dogs. My dog stays in my garden not bothering anyone except by barking if a stranger walks past the house However, that is his job and he is not only telling me but the neighbours too. These six cats do not remain in their own garden though, so we have all acquired six cats whether we want them or not.

The first issue I noticed was that birds stopped coming to pick my dog’s bowl clean in the afternoon. Then I saw a cat killing a lizard, a lovely nine inch adult and then I remembered not seeing many lizards lately. There is one lizard, the Tokay, that they have completely wiped out – I used to listen to them calling at night, but no more.

Cats also dig up flowers when they defecate and use furniture as scratching boards, so I do not want these destructive animals in my garden. But how do you keep cats out of your garden?

Walls are rarely protection against cats, but cats will often prowl along the bottom of walls and if they come across a hole, they will probably go in out of inquisitiveness, so repair all low-level gaps in your fences. There is not much you can do about the top of your wall other than putting broken glass or electrified wiring up there, but that is not a good idea.

Some dogs are good at keeping cats away, but not all. My dog got a nasty and completely unexpected swipe of claws across his nose one day. He used to chase them when they were kittens, but now they have grown up, he only growls to tell me a cat is on the premises. I cannot blame him.

In Australia, many gardeners reckon that transparent bottles full of water confuse cats, so they stay away, but in my experience, only Australian cats react in that way.

A row of prickly bushes or flowers along the base of a wall where cats frequently come in works. At the bottom of high walls too, where the cat cannot see them until he is on top of the wall. I often see cats mewing (in frustration, I hope) on the top of one of my walls. The only route down is to go back.

If you still cannot keep cats out, then you will have to train them not to come in. This is easiest achieved by using several methods. If cats are using your flower pots are toilets, try smearing the pots with pepper, lavender, lemon, mustard, or tobacco. Or you could leave a mothball in each pot. Some of these will work for you, others will not.

Then there are industrial repellents, but I do not want to resort to them. However, if you have a big garden and a big problem, it might be the only way. There are also high frequency sound emitters. Humans cannot hear them, but almost all animals can, so I think that that is deplorable as well.

At night, motion-activated exterior lighting is a great upset to cats. Cats have extremely sensitive night vision so a quick flash from a floodlamp really puts them off a garden.

The best deterrent is water. You can buy motion-activated sprinklers, which are excellent at keeping cats out of your garden, but I like to sit in my office or in the garden with a powerful water pistol and squirt them by hand. The lizards have not come back yet, but neither do the cats quite so frequently either.

If you would like to know more or check out some great offers, please go to our website at Outdoor Wall Lamps.

At first, it might not seem like a very good idea to bring a pet into a city apartment since they are, for the most part, cramped and quite small. Having another living being stay with us in our homes might just clutter it up even more.

It is a fact, though, that having a pet live with us will bring us entertainment, companionship and joy, among other things. That is definitely the reason that there are so many people living in city apartments with pets.

You will see that one animal is going to be called more suitable to be in a city apartment than others are; it all depends on exactly which pets people tend to like more. Let me be objective about the situation and talk about both the pros and cons of each animal in that setting.

First, let’s take a look at dogs. On the plus side, they’ll be extremely loyal and generally more active than cats are. Dogs will likely follow you often, while cats tend to do the opposite.

A dog might not be the best choice if you are a busy person without much time to give them attention. On the contrary, someone is going to appreciate this about dogs if they really like having the companionship of a friend who is always there for them.

With a cat, they do not require as much attention as dogs and generally keep to themselves. Yes, they will come to you for the occasional cuddle, but they can pretty much maintain themselves.

When it comes to being active, dogs definitely need to get outside a lot during the day. The task of walking a dog will be enjoyed by you if you like to get out in the fresh air.

On the other hand, there are many indoor cats that don’t need to go outside at all. With the simple use of a litter box, you’ll have everything handled from the comfort of your own home.

Well, it might seem like having a cat in the city is easier than having a dog. Nevertheless, so many folks just can’t get around the love they have for dogs.

Sometimes dog owners find themselves playing the role of dog medics. Dogs are curious and brave, which is normally a great combination but which can sometimes lead to trouble. If your dog has an emergency, you are going to have to help.

There are basic supplies you can keep on hand that can make a big difference when your dog has an emergency. If something bad happens, your dog may need you to provide emergency care until you can get him to the vet.

Your doggie first aid kid should definitely have gauze and tape in it. You can use these to slow or stop bleeding. You may also want to check into clotting topical remedies, they can be useful.

For cleaning your dog’s wounds, nothing beats hydrogen peroxide. You also need to keep the dog warm and secure to prevent shock so a clean blanket is a good idea. Your first aid kit will also need, at minimum, antibiotic gel, safety scissors, tweezers, elastic bandages, absorbent cotton, and a rectal thermometer. Tuck in some antihistamines too in case of wasp or bee sting.

Learn the basics of first aid. This takes a bit of time but is well worthwhile. You also want to keep your vet’s number handy for emergencies. Your dog may someday need emergency medical treatment in the middle of the night – you should ask your vet what to do in such a case.

Often a vet will have instructions on how to reach him after hours. Also, some cities have pet emergency centers. If yours has one, it’s good to keep their number in your kit as well.

You may also want to keep a muzzle in your kit. Even if your dog is very friendly and even-tempered, it may snap or even bite if it is hurt or frightened.

Never give your dog Tylenol. Instead, ask your vet what pain killer to use for your pet. Stock this in the kit before your dog needs care, so that you have it on hand.

This writer additionally regularly contributes articles regarding products such as granite sinks and double kitchen sinks.

The desire for healthy food seems to apply equally to people and their pets, because many pet owners prefer to buy organic foods to feed their four-legged friends. One could be forgiven for being surprised at the large variety of organic dog food available on the market. Just as for humans, there are a lot of pet illnesses that one could cure or even prevent in the first place by the use of organic pet food.

For example, organic dog food could reduce the chance of the dog developing skin diseases and allergies. The explanation for the positive health effects is the absence of additives, chemicals, colourants and pesticides. Instead the ingredients in organic dog food are simply grain extracts and high quality proteins. Organic dog food provides more nourishment, which is reflected in the higher levels of energy and the weight of the dog.

Normal dog food often causes diabetes and excess weight with all the concomitant problems that accompany these illnesses: back ailment, organ failure and decreased mobility. How can organic dog food help here? Well, organic food items for pets do not contain bulk fillers, they are nutrient-packed products that create energy not fat deposits. Moreover, it is best and a lot easier to prevent health issues than to try to treat them afterwards.

Good digestion and a stronger immunity system are the other main benefits that come with the use of organic dog food. Because of the lack of chemicals normally present in ordinary pet food, your dog will no longer vomit or experience gas or diarrhea. A healthier metabolism is what you will achieve with a healthy diet. Furthermore, the quality of the nutritional substances in organic dog food, boosts the immunity functions, thereby reducing the risks of infection and all sorts of specific diseases that affect dogs on a routine basis.

In general, veterinarian experts say that organic dog food significantly extends the life of any animal, to say nothing of the fact that it will go through old age a lot better. It is quite common that pet owners who choose organic dog food, are also interested in eating organic foods themselves, sticking to clean natural products that boost bodily functions and avoid toxins and disease.

Ask your dog food provider about organic dog food and if there is none available at your local shop, try to order it online. There are many web sites that sell such foods at fairly fair prices.

One last tip, be very, very wary of dried dog food like biscuits, no matter what it says on the packet. A few years ago, I had a dog called Becky that remained at home alone during the day, while I went to the office. I didn’t like to leave her ‘wet’ food, because of flies, bacteria and vermin, so I bought dry food, which would not go off during the day. However, within six years she had gotten diabetes, which meant that I had to inject her with insulin every morning. Sometimes, she would have a fit. The veterinary said that it was very common for dogs fed only on dry biscuits to contract diabetes, so check the food with your vet first or feed organic wet food.

Of all the domesticated animals in the world, the most versatile of them all has to be the Dog; Dog’s feature in all walks of life, we’ve all heard of guard dogs and hunting dogs, racing dogs and guide dogs for the blind, and of course the good old fashioned mans best friend, everywhere you look you will find a dogs role in society.

Did you know:-

It is not as common as we are led to believe that dogs kill humans regularly, the figures are more likely to be 1 in 4 million.

There is a 20% chance of boys aged between 5 and 9 getting bitten than any other person in the general population, (just something to consider if you have children and would like a dog.,

In the United States 88 out of 100 falls attributed to pets are caused by dogs.

Dogs have such good vision that they can spot their owners from great distances away.

Dogs can see in the dark better than humans due to light reflecting from the back of the retina.

Dogs have over 18 muscles in their ears which allow the ear to rotate and tilt, this allows the dog to pick up sounds very easily and quickly; far in advance of human hearing.

A dog’s wet nose allows it to determine the direction of the wind allowing it to pick up a source of smells very quickly; they can also detect smells far lower than a human is able to do.

It has been recorded that dogs can live for over 24 years in some cases.

Record numbers of cats and dogs end up in animal shelters every year, the records report this to be somewhere in the region of 8 million, out of these 50% never return once they have entered these places.

It is recommended that dogs be neutered or spayed early on as sexual maturity normally begins around the 6 to 12 months period of a dog’s birth.

Aside from animals, the author also frequently pens articles on badge holders and name tag holders.

The species of snake called the spitting cobra is very unusual as it not only has a poisonous bite but it also spits venom into the eyes of its prey and aggressors. Contact of this venom with your eyes is very painful and can even blind you temporarily, therefore, if you get cobra venom in your eyes, irrigate them with water at once in order to prevent permanent tissue damage.

The King Cobra (Ophiophagus hannah) is also remarkable in this large family of snakes (elapidae) because it feeds almost entirely on other snakes with mice and small birds also falling prey to its poison.

The King Cobra is also a record-holder because of its size – it can reach almost twenty feet (585 cms) in length, which makes it the largest poisonous snake in the world. The most recent discovery of a new species of cobra was made in 2003 as part of an illegal shipment of exotic pets at London Zoo.

DNA studies revealed that this new species of snake is similar to the red spitting cobra but has different genes. It seems to originate from an area between Sudan and Egypt and it has been called the ‘Nubian Spitting Cobra’.

Though highly dangerous when it is threatened cobras will not attack if you leave them alone, although the spit is very accurate for about two meters. Compared to the strike of a rattlesnake, the cobra is fairly slow in its attack and furthermore, many bites prove to be blank, that is without venom.

Statistics of a study conducted on Malaysian cobra snake victims indicate that only 55% of the bites involved poison release and the same statistics indicate a mortality rate of only 10% for people bitten, since the poisons injected into the blood of the prey destroy the nerves (neurotoxins), which induces respiratory failure approximately half an hour after being bitten, so you have 30 minutes to seek help.

The colouration is variable from light green-grey to black, while juveniles are yellow and black banded. This snake can find a habitat all over south-eastern Asia.

It is not unusual for pet owners to permit their pets to sleep with them at night. In fact, one third of pet owners have at some point, permitted their pets to sleep on their beds. Dogs provide a companionship that can’t be given by any other kind of animal. But this doesn’t mean to say that it is unlikely for some people to let their cats and another pets sleep with them too.

It is made easier too by dogs having a sleep pattern that is very much like our own. Dogs often trust their masters completely, which makes them a bit more relaxed during the night. This explains why most dogs fall asleep easily and later on, enter into a deep sleep where REM sleep activities can occur. In deed, once a dog enters this stage, the owner may need to call them several times before they can truly be roused from sleep.

For sure, lots of us have already seen a dog ‘running’ during sleep or, at times, barking with his eyes closed too. These dogs are believed to be dreaming. Breathing patterns can also be observed among dogs while they are asleep. For instance, there are breeds which breathe heavily and there are breeds which breathe more lightly. The heavy breathers are much more likely to snore than those which do not breathe so heavily.

Dogs which snore can be rather a nuisance during the night, depending on the degree and frequency of the occurrence of this phenomenon. Like with humans, there are various considerations why dogs snore. Most though have to do with the obstruction of the passage of air in the throat caused by the collapse of certain areas along the throat. The same as in humans.

A dog that snores very loudly ought to be examined for different issues to see which treatment could be best provided. Some dogs are especially susceptible to some allergies that can cause obstruction in the airway. It may also be that there is some excess tissue in the areas that are preventing proper breathing. It is best for a veterinarian to check out different factors through careful evaluation of the dog’s anatomical features and physical symptoms in general.

Maybe, your dog is overweight. Like with humans, obese dogs are more likely to snore during the night. This is because they have more flesh surrounding their throats. Therefore, they have excess tissue that hangs around the throat which can potentially cause the obstructions. Once this problem is corrected, the risk of snoring will be decreased. This would not only be healthy for your dogs, you may actually enjoy nights of restful sleep too.

The general facial features of the dog affect the amount of snoring too. Some dogs seem to have pushed-in faces which narrows their air passages to a greater or lesser degree. The construction of their nasal passages also largely contributes to their problems in breathing. They are pretty much like humans with the flu, who are forced to breathe using only twenty-five percent of their nostril capacity. Dog breeds with shorter faces need to expend lots of effort to breathe properly. It costs them more effort to breathe and they are also more prone to snoring.

Minor surgery can give your dog great relief. Be sure though that before any decision is made, you are well educated about the potential risks and consequences of surgery to stop a dog snoring. Most are irreversible, so careful thought must be given to any operation you allow. In fact it is best to follow the guidelines provided by your veterinarian.

So you may wonder, what is in a dog’s name? Just what does it matter what your female dog’s name is? The answer is a fair bit, because your bitch’s name defines him or her in the eyes of your friends, especially if you have a small dog. What small dogs lack in stature they can make up for in attitude. For small dogs, being cute will get them everywhere. But what is a cute dog without a cute dog name?

Cute dog names are really meant for female dogs or bitches. Abby, for example is a very cute dog name. When you match with a mental image, you probably see a little Westie or a Labrador pup romping around on a lawn in your mind’s eye. Other cute female dog names are Queenie, Beauty, Becky and Blackie. All of these cute dog names seem to embody a bundle of fur that has a sweet nature and just loves cuddles. They all speak of a cute appearance and a very happy dog owning experience.

However, there appears to be very few cute dog names available for male dogs. This may be because it lessens the masculine image that male dogs should have. Still, there are a few cute male dog names out there. Bobby, (Old) Nick, Patch and Tigger are all cute male dog names that have the same effect as the female ones do. However, you do have to make sure that you have the right kind of male dog to name with a cute dog name, because if you get it wrong, it will make him sound silly.

Cute dog names can be very appropriate for male and female members alike of certain breeds and can help to develop a lovable personality, because of the affection it will be shown. But be warned, you do not want to leave your dog open to ridicule so choose when to use cute dog names very carefully.

Whilst dogs are very intelligent creatures, they cannot process the same amount of information that humans can. Therefore, dog names should never be more than two syllables. If they are more than that, it is very rare that a dog will actually respond. Max, Sam, Lady, Molly and the like are excellent dog names because they are short and the syllables are hard. They easily respond to those dog names and it can improve your chances of training them successfully.

Moreover, dogs names should assist them form a character of their own. Common names do not encourage them to do that, so finding a simple but unusual name can help their characters a great deal without damaging their ability to respond to a command.

I am quite willing to bet money that most pet owners do not think of the factors outlined above when thinking of dog names for a new pet. Instead, dog names are chosen at random, but it is worth putting a bit more thought into it, for your dogs sake if nothing else.

People who have been unlucky at finding love still want an emotional connection like everyone else in this world. They want to be able to interact with someone, touch someone and love someone.

People who have been unlucky at finding love still want an emotional connection like everyone else in this world. They want to be able to interact with someone, touch someone and love someone.

Of course, they may have friends or family, but there’s a deeper need to have a closer bond with someone or something else. That’s where having a pet, specifically a dog, comes into the picture.

The qualities of dogs, specifically their playfulness, positive demeanor and fun attitude, explain why they are “man’s best friend.” Dogs can step in and be the missing piece in a lonely person’s life.

They don’t require a significant amount of care and before you know it, they’ll become like a family member to you. Many dog owners experience unexpected results within a short period of time after bringing their new buddy home.

People who walk their dogs on the street tend to meet other people on the street and can use the dog to flirt with others. Someone will stop to pet the dog and before they know it, they’re having a conversation with the owner.

Furthermore, people with similar dog interests generally hang out at dog runs and other pet-related locations. Therefore, for people whose purpose was to get a dog to have someone or something to connect to, owning the dog and taking him or her to places with other owners may in fact lead to a human connection.

If dog owners are still having a hard time meeting new people, there are plenty of other ways to find other like-minded individuals, including attending meet-ups and organized events. Ultimately, anyone can meet new friends or maybe a significant other as a result of owning a dog.

Cats and kittens have completely different nutritional needs to dogs and cats. There are things that you would happily give other animals that are actually poisonous to felines.

Overfeeding is a common problem is that people think their cats are too thin. Cats are meant to be lean, so make sure you give it the amount of food that it requires. A general rule is that a cat needs about ounce of food for every pound of its body weight. So an average 8lb cat with no special dietary needs only requires 4 ounces of cat food.

Always ensure that you steer clear of the cheap cat food in favor of a top quality brand which will have all the nutrition and vitamins that your pet need to stay healthy.

One vital requirement to a cat’s nutrition is taurine. You will probably know this better as an ingredient in many popular energy drinks. To your cat, however, this amino acid can mean the difference between them keeping the eyesight they are famous for, and blindness.

Cats also need a steady supply of Vitamin A. Other animals simply synthesize this vitamin for nutrients, but cats are unable to do this so we must ensure that they get it in their food.

Raw liver is one way to give your cat their Vitamin A, but a lot of cats refuse to eat it, and a lot of owner find it abhorrent. Braking open a capsule of cod liver oil and adding it to their normal food is a much more acceptable of doing it.

Although there are feeding guides on all cat food, these are just general and there are a lot of other things that you should take into consideration.

Some of the major considerations are the cats age, its weight, how much exercise it gets, it’s breed and if there are any underlying health problems. You cat is unique so these guides should never be followed to the letter.

The most important of all, of course, is that you must avoid over feeding at all costs. Our modern pets have never had it so good, but rich treats are detrimental to their well being.

In addition to pets, this writer additionally frequently publishes information about car strobe lights and LED strobe lights for trucks.

If you have pets that live outside, there are a few things you have to do to ensure that they get through the cold winters. Drinks are vital to your pet and to make sure they don’t freeze, a heated bowl which works according to the temperature is ideal.

If our feet are cold in the house what do we do? Put on slippers or socks obviously, what can our poor dogs do though? Absolutely nothing, so we have to do it for them. A kennel raised above the ground is a good idea, alternatively give them something to sleep on that is elevated above the cold floor.

Some dog owners dress their dogs up in ridiculous outfits to match their own, but in the winter months even the owners who treat this practice with disdain appreciate that jackets and sweater serve a purpose.

There are 5 sizes of dogs clothes, so the chances are there will be a size to fit your pet. The ones today can go through you washing machine just like our clothes.

So the winter clothing will keep them warm, but health supplements are recommended to keep their joints oiled, so to speak. All houses suffer from drafts, and as your dog is on the ground they will be affected more by them than we would. A lighter, house sweater will protect your pet. You can also get goggles to keep snow, grit etc out of their eyes when they go for walks.

Our cats need some special care during the winter months too. As they have very little body fat they feel the cold more than dogs. A cat bed that is shaped like a cave will keep them warm and cozy in the coldest weather.

We all know that carpets warm up floors, but more and more of us are rejecting carpets in favour or wooden or laminate floors, which are incredibly cold in the winter. So that your pet isn’t uncomfortable lying on the floor, get them a heated mat designed for pets, or even a rug. This also stops them from jumping onto your soft furnishings for comfort.

The worst thing that you can possibly do is leave your pet outside so that it’s exposed to the elements. Frostbite is nasty at any time, but can be extremely painful for dogs. It’s attacks their tail, feet and ears so make sure they have good shelter.

If you own cats, see the ways that a magnetic cat door or Petsafe cat door might be a great addition as well.

If you are constantly rushing your female puppy to the vet for recurring urinary tract infection (UTI), it would very much help if you know how to spot the symptoms of female puppy UTI before the condition worsens. Most frequently, owners do not realize that their puppy is suffering from UTI until the condition has already reached its advanced stage. As a result, the life of the puppy is put at risk and the owner is likely to administer aggressive treatment that may bring about harsh side effects in an attempt to save the puppy?s life. To keep this from happening, it is imperative that an owner knows the symptoms of UTI in a female puppy.

The symptoms of UTI in a female puppy are easy to detect if you are aware of the urinating habit of your puppy. Any signs of irregularity may signal a problem in the puppy?s health.

The following are signs of female puppy UTI: 1. Frequent urination. A female puppy suffering from UTI may tend to urinate more often. This constant urination may be caused by an inflammation in its bladder. If inflammation has worsened, this frequent urination may lead to incontinence or the inability for the puppy to control the flow of its urine. 2. In contrast to frequent urination, a puppy with UTI may urinate less than usual. This condition could be caused by a blockage in the female puppy?s urethra or bladder. The blockage may be caused by the formation of stones or plugs. Although blockage is most common in male puppies, it could also happen in females. If left untreated, a complete blockage may occur and put the puppy?s life in extreme danger. 3. Excessive thirst. Female puppies with UTI may also tend to drink more water. This increase in thirst may be a sign of dehydration which may be caused by constant urination or excessive excretion of liquid from its body. 4. Bloody urine. In its advanced stage, UTI in a female puppy may result to bloody urine. This can be extremely painful to the puppy. 5. Straining to urinate. The puppy may strain to urinate but produce only trickles of urine. The puppy may also whimper when trying to urinate because of the pain that goes along with the process. 6. Lethargy. If you notice that your puppy is getting lethargic more often, or is feverish, chances are it may be suffering from female puppy UTI in its advanced stage. Treatment is a must in this condition.

Urinary tract infection is a painful experience for the dog. Now that you have an idea of why and how UTI in dogs happens, it is vital that you take precautionary measures to prevent your dog from contracting another case of dog UTI. Prevention of UTI in dogs is as simple as ABC, as long as you take regular action of the following tips: ? Give your dog ample amount of clean water everyday. ? Give your dog a regular bath, taking note to especially wash its genital area. ? Give your dog a regular dose of homeopathic remedy. ? Wash the dog?s food and water bowl with clean water regularly. ? Regularly take the dog out for a morning or afternoon walk. Exercise can help stimulate its bladder. ? Encourage your dog to urinate regularly. Regular urination is essential to flush out the bacteria that may have accumulated in the dog?s bladder.

The first thing a veterinarian would do when you bring your dog for check-up would be to perform physical examination on the dog. A urinalysis and blood test may also be taken. X-rays and radiographs are taken to determine if stones are present in the dog?s bladder. Once the cause of the urinary tract infection is determined, the vet may then perform proper medication to the dog. Antibiotics may be given to alleviate the pain and suppress or stop the infection from spreading and causing more harm to the dog?s internal system. The veterinarian may also prescribe a special diet to help increase the dog?s immunity against infection.

If you are looking for a solution to canine UTI or looking for information on dog incontinence, look to the experts.

If you have just got a new kitten or cat then you will know just how important it is that they get house-trained. If they leave litter around the house it can be a big problem. The smells and stains are not welcome and it can become a health hazard. To undertake the process of toilet training cats is not one that can be achieved overnight, it requires a lot of resilience and effort.

To begin with you are going to have to get your new pet to use a litter tray. This should be a comfortable size for them so that they can turn around easily. You need to buy a litter product that absorbs the smell and is easy to clean. The tray needs to be put in an area of the house which is not difficult for the cat to reach as well as being out of the way and private. Do not keep it in the same location as the cat’s food or where they sleep, also keep in mind the smells it may give off.

Once they are familiar with using the litter tray you can start to train them to use the actual toilet. This can take a fair degree of effort but is achievable with almost any cat. It is much easier done if you have a spare toilet which is designated for the cat to use.

Only after the cat has got used to the litter tray should you start to move it. At first you can bring it closer to the bathroom and then eventually inside. It may help to show the cut where the tray has gone. The next step will involve you raising the level of the tray. You can do this with old newspapers or strong cardboard boxes. Eventually you need to get it to the same height as the toiler seat and also move it into an adjacent position.

To make the cat now switch over requires the use of a litter pan. This should be connected to the underside of the toilet seat; into this you need to place litter from the tray. If you do not plan to use this bathroom yourself then you can leave both the tray and litter pan together for a few days until removing the tray.

The final stage of the training is when you remove the pan completely from the toilet. This can be traumatic for the cat at first as the sight of a long drop filled with water can cause trepidation. You may have to give them a helping hand and encouragement.

It is possible to train a cat of any age to use a toilet but the younger they are the easier it will be. Remember that if you have a kitten it may be too small to safely use a toilet.

Remember that cats are territorial, they are likely to only use that one toilet in your home and not every bathroom that you have.

TrainKitty.com is a great resource for training your feline friend(s) – we offer loads of great info on Toilet Training Cats and much more => http://trainkitty.com/
